Boyd Broughton

Chief Executive Officer

Te Taumata Hauora o Te Kahu o Taonui IMPB

Raised in Whirinaki in the Hokianga, Boyd Broughton affiliates to the tribal nations of Te Rarawa, Ngāpuhi, Tainui, and Ngāti Porou.

He is the Chief Executive of the Te Tai Tokerau Iwi-Māori Partnership Board (IMPB), following previous senior leadership roles including Director of Health for Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Whātua and General Manager of Te Hā Oranga, the health and social services arm of Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Whātua.

With more than two decades of experience in public health, Boyd has worked extensively across Māori health, equity, and community wellbeing. In 2022, he was seconded into the Ministry of Health / Te Whatu Ora as part of the Equity Team contributing to the national Covid-19 response.

Boyd is an Atlantic Fellow for Social Equity and holds a Master’s in Social Change (Equity).

He believes that every fight today to uphold te reo Māori, advance equity, and dismantle racism is one less fight our tamariki must battle tomorrow.

He is pāpā to eight beautiful reo Māori-speaking tamariki and young adults, and a proud koro pōua (grandfather) to three treasured mokopuna (grandchildren).

He is also the undisputed whānau Connect Four Champion.
